Trudie E. Billings
July 3, 1918 – January 5, 2019
Trudie E. Billings, age 100, of Northport, went to be with the Lord on January 5, 2019. Preceding her in death was her loving husband, Albert Billings, Sr.; parents, W.C. and Mamie Elmore; brother, Floyd Elmore; sisters, Anna Lou McAteer; Evelyn Tidmore; Wilma Johnson; and Verda Mae Parker. Survivors include sons, Albert Billings, Jr. (Linda); Joe Doug Billings (Sybel); daughter, Mary Anne Knight (Alan); sister, Leola Thornton; seven grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
Mom was a sweet, godly, smart, hard-working, wonderful-cooking precious Saint. Anyone who knew her, knew she loved the Lord and was one of the strongest women you could ever meet. After our Dad's death in 1961, she returned to school and became a nurse. She retired from the VA Hospital with 20 years of service.
Services will be held at Northwood Hills Baptist Church on Tuesday, January 8th. Visitation will be on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m., and the service will begin at 12:00 p.m., with Reverends George Shaddix, Rusty Selman, and Terry Billings officiating, with Sunset Funeral Home directing. A private graveside service will be held immediately following at Memory Hill Gardens. Pallbearers will be: Jon Billings, Trae Billings, Mike Blythe, Clay Rice, Andrew Sexton, Brad Shivers, Charlie Tidmore, and Gary Falls.
In lieu of flowers, you may honor Trudie's memory with a contribution to Northwood Hills Baptist Church's Building Fund or to Hospice of West Alabama.
