July 11, 1932May 12, 2019

OAKDALE – Blanche D. Gaudette, 86, daughter of Muriel (Murray) and Edgar LeBlanc, closed the final chapter of her earthly existence on Sunday, May 12, 2019. Mrs. Gaudette was predeceased by her devoted husband, George A. Gaudette to whom she was married for forty-three years.

She is survived by the joy of her life, her daughter Blanche D. Murphy of Walpole, MA and her loving son-in-law, Michael L. Murphy and four grandsons; Shawn, Colin and his wife Annie, Ryan and his wife Laura, and Michael J., who have each brought great happiness into her life. Just 17 months ago she was blessed with the birth of a great-granddaughter Sloane.

For many years, Mrs. Gaudette was blessed with the companionship of her dearest friend, Therese Bannon, who through love became a treasured member of the Gaudette/Murphy family. Together they traveled throughout the United States and to many countries in the world.

Mrs. Gaudette was an educator in Montville and Pawcatuck, CT. She had a special place in her heart for the students and the community of St. Michael School in Pawcatuck where she taught for over 25 years. In her retirement, Mrs. Gaudette often reminisced over the events of her life and deeply felt that through her family, friends and career it had truly been “a wonderful life.”

I knew Mrs. Gaudette as a teacher of my children and as a colleague at St. Michael School. She was a superb teacher but, more so, embodied and practiced her Catholic faith so that she taught not just Language Arts but the arts of patience and compassion and understanding. God will truly reward her for her life of service and love.

She was a favorite teacher from St. Michael’s and a wonderful lady who left a lasting impact. God bless you Ms. Gaudette and I hope your family takes solace on the far and everlasting influence you’ve made in our community.

Blanche & Family,
We were very saddened to hear of the passing of your mother. Your mother and Terry were two of the first people that we met when we began going to IBE 19 years ago. Over the years, we have enjoyed visiting with the two of them and have always had nice times whenever gathered together, usually at their place. It was a pleasure to hear her speak of her family and we know there was a great closeness with the family. May she rest in the arms of her LORD and may you know how she will be missed. It was our privilege to have known her.

I have great memories from way back when Blanche & George lived in the Boston suburbs, before they moved to Connecticut. She was very outspoken and honest, and I appreciated that. She will be missed ~

Dear Little Blanche, Michael, and Therese: how many are the happy memories associated with this dedicated woman, whom I first met right after ordination, in the summer of 1967. Hers has been a rich life, filled with blessings, which blessings she was never slow to share with others. May she continue to find joy, now in the realization of a blessed reunion.

Blanche Gaudette, Our prayers and many thoughts go to your family. There have been many memories and happy times. Even how you did mouth to mouth breathing to bring Joe back one day at your home. As health is not our best now we will keep you in our prayers. May you have peace and happiness with the good Lord and George. Joe and Betty Ettl

Of all the teachers I’ve had, Mrs G. was my favorite. She was a blessing given to all of us.

My dearest Blanche,
You are my wind beneath my wings!
Given all our challenges we’ve endured since we were 2 young nurses , sitting in parking lot, happy to vent, sitting for hours together (without a cocktail) before heading home! I cherish those special times.
Counting how many questions you asked Michael and him so patiently answering each and every question to your satisfaction.
You are an amazing nurse, spouse but for me, friend! I’ve had few life long friends
I thank you for hanging in there with me

All these qualities I know you’re mom saw in you as well! She and your dad knew how special their little girl was.
With tears in my eyes I’ll say. See you Wednesday. Take care. Love you
Steady Kathy

I taught with Blanche at Saint Michael's School in Pawcatuck from 1974 to 1978. She was a beloved member of the school community. The faculty and students loved her strength, wit, passion, and devotion. It was a pleasure working with her. I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to her family and to Terry Bannon, who was my music teacher and choir director at Saint Boniface School in New Haven in the early 1960's. What a thrill it was to meet her again through Blanche over a decade later. Peace and love to all.
