Dorothy was born in Bridgeport, CT to the late William and Vivian (Payne) Williams Sr. on Dec 12, 1942. She moved with family to Norwich where she met & married Samuel Chinigo Sr. They have been happily married for 53 years.
To know Dorothy was to love her. She was incredibly caring & constantly doing things for others. But when it came to family, her love for them knew no limits. Even while fighting her own battles, she was always more concerned with her family's welfare. Motherhood was Dorothy's calling...and no one did it better.
Dorothy had a love of flowers, cooking incredible meals for her family, and just spending time with them. She truly had a zest for life. She loved going out to eat, sitting by the water, traveling, and family gatherings. Everyone looked forward to Aunt Dottie's annual picnics & parties. Simply put, her smile and “gift of gab” drew people to her. She was not only a wonderful mom to her family, but to extended family as well.
In true Grandmother form, Dorothy was at her best when spoiling her 2 grandchildren...Gabriella & Mason. She spent many hours babysitting for them and loved them with all of her heart...which was huge.
She is survived by her loving husband, Samuel Chinigo Sr., her sons; Samuel Chinigo Jr and his wife Kerry, Anthony Chinigo, daughter; Gina Chinigo, sisters; Patricia Sedora, Barbara Larochelle, Virginia Soper, Connie Theriault, grandchildren; Gabriella and Mason Chinigo, and countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by 2 brothers William “Butchy” Williams and Ronald Williams, and sister Vivian Zmolick.
Funeral Services will be private to the family at Dorothy’s request.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life for Dorothy on March 3 at 2pm at her son and daughter-in-law’s house at 111 Roosevelt Ave. Ext. in Preston.
