Mitchell M. “David” Szajda, 66 of Lebanon, CT passed away on Monday April 2, 2018 after a brief illness.

David was born June 2, 1951 in Willimantic, the son of the late Michael and Mary Koziura Szajda. A lifelong resident of Lebanon he attended Lyman Memorial School and worked on the family’s Szajda Brothers Farm. He spent 40 years as heavy equipment operator and truck driver for several local companies. He retired from Tilcon as a loader operator. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 478.

In retirement David loved clearing wood lots, splitting firewood and delivering it to his customers. David was " a good ole boy". He loved the family farm, outdoors, guns, hunting, fishing, working on cars, trucks and farm equipment.

David is survived by his daughter Amanda Szajda of Pawcatuck, brother Michael Szajda and his wife Cindy of Lebanon, sisters Helen Von Edwins of Willimantic and Isabel Rioux of Barton, PA as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be held Saturday April 7th from 9 am to 10:30 am with Funeral Service following at Church and Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem Street, Norwich, CT. Burial will be private and at the convenience of his family.
