Jack E. LoVette

Jack E. LoVette, 85, of Norwich passed away Monday, February 5, 2018, at his home. Jack was born on January 14, 1933 in the Town of Orange, NY the son of Malcom and Dorothy LoVette. He attended the Dundee schools and on August 10, 1957 in Preston he married Sylvia Franklin who passed away September 27, 2006. Over the years Jack had been employed by I.L. Richer, drove an 18 wheeler and was a 30 year employee of GLA and its successor’s. While employed by GLA he worked as a Graphics Technician. Following his retirement at the age of 59, Jack found many ways to enjoy his leisure time. He was a great fan of country music, loved to go dancing, liked a good game of bingo, enjoyed camping and fishing, watching the birds and traffic from his home. He also enjoyed his horses which he owned and would occasionally bet. Jack is survived by his son Michael LoVette of Norwich, his companion Sharon Peck also of Norwich, sisters Jane LaTourette and Florence Gee of Oxford, brother Harry LoVette of Ithaca, 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters-in-law Rose Marie Franklin and Cheryl Franklin, his canine friends Bengie and Daisy May and feline friends Princess and Elizabeth. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Besides his wife Sylvia, Jack was predeceased by his children Malcolm LoVette and Jeanette Christophersen, his brother Harvey and brother-in-law Howard Franklin. A memorial service for Jack will be held on Friday, March 16, at 11 am from the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Matt Frayer, Pastor of the Bible Baptist Church of Norwich will officiate. Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home on Friday from 10-11 am.
