Born on August 30, 1933, Larry was the son of Fremont and Olive (Huntley) Tucker. He was raised on the family farm in North Pharsalia, and graduated with the South Otselic class of 1951. He served his country as a helicopter mechanic in the U.S. Army, a member of the 33rd Transportation Company. Larry was then employed at Sheffield Products (Quest) for 35 years, until retiring in 1993.
On April 4, 1959 he married Anne Prindle, who survives. He is also survived by their children: Marc Tucker and Wendy Mowrey of Earlville, Lisa and Keith Day of Greene, and Linda Tucker of Norwich; his beloved grandchildren: Megan Tucker, Cheyanne Tucker and fiancé, Judah Nietopski, Corinne Tucker, Ethan Day, Matthew Day, Luke Day, and Stephen Turner, and his precious great granddaughter, Kinsley Grace Briggs. He is also survived by his sister, Irene Lawton and her husband, Gerald, of Chardon, Ohio, along with many nieces and nephews.
To those nieces and nephews—as well as to the numerous daycare children he and Anne welcomed into their home over the years—he was affectionately known as “Uncle Larry.”
Larry was a hardworking man that saw any job to completion with precision and care. That work ethic lives on in his children and grandchildren.
Larry always had a sharp memory, right up to his final days. The family delighted in the stories he told and were entertained and often amazed at the detail and variety of his many recollections. His wit and dry humor surfaced constantly, and his one-liners were priceless.
Most of all he loved his family and went above and beyond in the ways he provided for and endlessly helped and cared for us all.
He will be laid to rest in Mount Hope Cemetery in Norwich after a private family service.
