It was now the beginning of WWII, and she followed her former husband across the country while he served in the Navy. She immediately landed a job at General Dynamics and later at Stone & Webster. In retirement, she moved to Ocala, Florida to golf, play Mahjong, enjoy the sun and paint. Gene loved to paint ceramics, watercolor and oil painting. She was self-taught and painted beautifully and prolifically until her eye sight failed at 96.
