Dear Rosemerry and Carol: I’m so sorry to hear about Aunt Pauline. I wish I could have attended the services, but I didn’t find out about her passing until yesterday. I always recall that your mother, the baby of the famly, was always very kind to me at family gatherings through the years. I wanted to pass on a story from a few years back when I took my mother for a visit to Boswell to try to jog her memory. I was looking for the Russian Orthodox Church that the Phillips’ family attended and where the Phillips’ grandparents are interred. I kept driving around the Boswell area, but couldn’t find it.  I finally stopped into a drug store in town to ask for directions.  The younger staff called out a woman in her 70s who knew exactly where the church was (St. Mary’s in Jenner).  She asked who my family was. I told her the Phillips’ family from Boswell many years back, including children Mary, Frank, etc. She didn’t recall any of the older siblings, but then her eyes brightened and she said she clearly remembered a Pauline Phillips.  She told me about how beautiful and popular your mother was, and went on to describe her wedding and reception, which were apparently exceptional events in the area.  So, your mother was quite the lady, enough so to be remembered in tiny Boswell many decades after she left there.  While the passing of your mother will leave a void in your life, I hope the memories of your time with her and her love for you will help you get through this difficult time and lift your hearts in the years to come. I remember growing up and knowing Aunt Pauline was the youngest sister/child in the Phillips' family of ten.  My mother, Helen, and my Aunt Annie often referred to her as "Babe."  It was obvious they loved her so and were protective of her.  Somewhere I have a photo of my mother holding her in her arms as a toddler in their yard in Pennsylvania and will share it when I find it. I've attached a photo of my mom with "Babe" at my mother's 80th birthday party in 2007.  The family get-togethers were always special.  Keep those precious memories close as you walk this path Rose and Carol. Love you both ~ Karyn
