LaVerne E. Schillinger, age 95, of Crete, Illinois, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2018 at Joliet Area Community Hospice with her loving family at her side.

LaVerne was born September 30, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois to the late John Carl and Amanda (nee Stenzel) Frank. Also preceding her in death are her loving husband for over 50 years, William Schillinger; loving daughter, Bonnie Willet; brother, John Carl (Irma) Frank Jr.; sister-in-laws, Irene Schillinger and Bernice (Lou) DePierre.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving son Ron (Beverly) Schillinger; grandsons, Mark (Amy) Schillinger and Kurt (Zorica) Schillinger; great-granddaughters, Katlyn and Alexa Schillinger; son-in-law, Steve Willet; niece, Linda (Steve) Rehnberg; nephew, Rev. Robert (NIna) Frank; and godson, Wayne (Leonette) Pahr.

Before becoming a devoted homemaker, LaVerne worked for Jewel in Chicago on Kedzie Avenue, and was also a secretary for a publishing company in Chicago. She was faithful member of Hope Lutheran Church in Chicago and later Bethel Lutheran Church in Westmont. In her golden years she enjoyed playing cards with her friends, Ann, Laura, and Anita.

Friends may visit the family on Sunday, July 29, 2018 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Chapel Hill Gardens South Funeral Home (11333 South Central Ave; Oak Lawn, Illinois 60453), and again from 9:00 am until the time of her funeral at 11:00 am at Chapel Hill Gardens South Funeral Home with her nephew, Rev. Robert Frank officiating. Memorial contributions may be given towards Joliet Area Community Hospice; 250 Water Stone Circle; Joliet, Illinois 60436.
