Marla J. O’Brien (nee Greer) age 70 of Chicago, Illinois was called home by the Lord on Friday, April 30th 2021. Marla was born on October 30, 1950. Beloved and loving wife of Edward P. O'Brien, Sr. for 51 years. Loving mother to Tami, Patricia, Edward (Amanda), Marla Colleen (Richard), Jeanine and Lora (Taylor). Cherished Grandma of Ronnie (Erica), Mark, Melissa (Ben), Michael (Nichole), Elizabeth (Joseph), Samuel (Miranda), William, Emily (Charles), Donny (Caitlyn), Lilliana, Liam, Carys, Maryn, Lexus and Harley. She was a Great-Grandma to twenty.

In addition to being a dedicated wife, loving mother and grandma, Marla would spend her spare time talking with friends and playing bingo. Marla had the biggest heart and her home was always open to all of the neighbor kids. Throughout Marla’s life, she held faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her.

A Memorial Visitation will occur Saturday, May 8, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Chapel Hill Gardens South Funeral Home, 11333 South Central Ave, Oak Lawn, IL 60453 with a Memorial Service following from 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM.

In consideration of the safety of our guests and associates, Chapel Hill Gardens South Funeral Home will adhere to the current COVID restrictions in the state of Illinois, which allow 50 or fewer guests at a visitation and services. Proper social distancing must be practiced and all guests will be required to wear face masks at all times. No food will be allowed at the funeral home. I was so sorry to hear about Marla. I will miss her. She was one great big sister. We may haven't talked as much as we should have over the last few years, but we both knew how much we loved each other. We could always pickup the phone and it was just like talking to her yesterday. She sure loved Ed, her kids, grandkids and great grand kids. We have all been gifted by her being in our lives. Rest in peace Marla, may your angel wings take you wherever you want to fly.............I love you......Jeannine
