I remember the amount of fun we would have, going to different places to sing. The long trips on the bus, going to Memphis, UNAC(now AIM). She was very protective of her girls in the choir. She would make sure the younger girls would have rooms close to both she and my god mother, the late Lydia Slaughter, to watch over us.
She would always tell me "GIRL SMILE" you're always looking mean(still do...lol).
Barbara Faye Forney, always had a smile, kind heart, the best hugs and full of laughter.
She was there for me from the day my mother died, until the day I left California. She wasn't just a vice president of the choir, she was a mother, aunt, protector and so much MORE.
To the family, I pray that the Lord give you comfort, strength and peace in this time of your new normal!!

To our Forney Family, I can't really find the words to express the sentiments of my heart. You are so dear to me and I am so thankful to know that we are family. Thank you for sharing your beautiful and amazing Wife, Mom and Grandmother, Barbara Faye, with us. She has made such an impact on our lives and she is the warm, fun and loving part of our memories. On top of it all, I think I will remember her beautiful smile and loving concern the most. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Love you❤

I have a lot of good memories about Barbara Faye while being a choir member when she was one of the leaders. We laughed, but when it came down to handling business, she did just that. We had fun preparing for choir trips, and seeing which Section could raise the most money. Having that talk to the ladies about hygiene was hilarious, and for fussing at the choir for not following directions ...Fuss Box..lol. She fussed at me for slapping someone who kept irritating me,and I had to go sit next to her on the bus. She told me the person was wrong, but I was wrong too! I had to sit with her for a little while (Yes,I got in trouble too!). One memory was on a Sunday morning while Big Daddy was up preaching and Lawrence Forney tipped out of the choir stand with his finger up. As he walk down the stairs, and turn the corner, Big Daddy said, "and the Lord said brother Forney get back in the choir stand." Lawrence tipped back in the choir stand with that finger up, and the whole choir fell out laughing. When I looked at his mom Barbara Faye, she was in tears from laughing so hard. Love you Barbara Faye, and we'll miss you!

Hi Barbara Faye Forney,
You were a joy and excitement for me as I joined the choir. You asked me if I was saved at 14 and with my yes you permitted me to join. I really miss the choir functions and trips that you chaired that made us more family. I am saddened that you left but rejoice that you will wake up on the other side of Glory! You ran and out beat all of us - enjoy your rest and eternity with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

We extend loving sympathy and caring prayers for the Forney family. May you find strength and comfort in God's powerful love today, and always.

Every mother has her own unique way of being wonderful and we love and appreciate your mother for being that. We're thinking now with gratitude, in our hearts, of all the kind and warm words of support that she gave to our family, with a smile in her voice, when we first became members of the Good Samaritan Cathedral Church. We shared a cousin bond.

During this time of bereavement, be assured that God is always near; He sees, He cares and He comforts.

With much love and continuous prayers,

Elder Donnie and Mother Gloria Royal and Family

Mama Forney was such a sweetheart!! When I first came to GSC 10 years ago, she was one of the first people to embrace me. One Sunday, she TOLD me that I was her goddaughter now! Lol! I said OK!! 💕I would hear stories from the other members about how she didn’t play when it came to ministry! I respected that about her. She would share things with me & make me laugh.

I will miss the smile & hug I knew I could count on when I walked to the back of the church. She was loved by many & will be truly missed. Praying for the entire family. May God give you all strength and comfort during this time. ❤️
