Doris Burnice Newton Godfrey moved to Oakland,Ca with her parents and siblings where they resided in West Oakland and continued here education at McClymonds High School. The Newton family joined Antioch Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Thomas where she was baptized as a confession of her faith.

In her teens Doris met a young military man by the name of Glen Godfrey Sr and later married him.

Doris and Glen remained happily married for 71 years until the time of his passing. Doris loved to travel and going out to dinner.

She was surrounded by family as she made peaceful transition from earth to be with her Heaven Father.
