April 6, 1938 – March 29, 2021
Harvey Back, 82, of Little River SC, passed away on Monday, March 29, surrounded by loved ones. Services will be held Thursday afternoon at Agudath Achim Cemetery in Neptune NJ.
Harvey was born in the Bronx NY, and later moved to New Jersey and then Little River SC. He graduated from City College New York and soon became highly regarded as an expert in finance, starting his career in banking, then owning and operating small businesses, and ultimately as finance manager for an auto dealership before he retired about 10 years ago. He achieved great success in all these endeavors and was always there when his financial expertise was needed for advice to family and friends. Harvey climbed a long way up from the humble surroundings of his childhood, and he made his family proud.
Harvey was married to loving wife, Christine Back, whom he met and married in New Jersey. He is survived by his son, Lyle, and daughter, Adria, his eight grandchildren, and his siblings, Larry, Tina, and Ricky.
Harvey loved bicycling and was known in the Country Lakes community for cycling 10 miles or more every day throughout his senior years. He was a competitive pool player all his life, who discovered his enthusiasm for that sport as a junior pool shark at age 11 in the Boys Club of New York. Above all activities, Harvey had a passion for the New Orleans culture, having made numerous trips to JazzFest, and he identified with the music, always the music, typified in his email handle, harveyblues.
Everyone who knew Harvey will miss his keen wit and wry sense of humor, his willingness to lend a hand, and his never-ending commitment to family.

In loving memory of my uncle:
I knew he was special because he treated me special. He was brought laughter and light every time he entered a room. He has a way of making you feel seen and known and loved. I am forever grateful to have known him.
You are so very loved and will be so very missed. Until we meet again..... Tracy Back Erwin
