Born in Brooklyn, she lived in Dayton OH, Far Rockaway NY, and Eatontown NJ before moving to Ocean Township in 1972.
Mrs. Tutelman had a varied career, beginning with a teaching degree from Cortland State University. She worked as a secretary for McGraw Hill in New York City, and later when the family moved to NJ, she was a secretary for Bell Labs in Holmdel. In both jobs, she quickly became the senior secretary in the office. During her time at Bell Labs, she was also the secretary of the Holmdel Ski Club. When she took some time off to raise her children, she also started volunteering for Ocean Township Meals on Wheels and soon became their Volunteer Coordinator, a post she filled for many years. When her nest was empty, she studied to be a Medical Assistant, and then a Dental Assistant and X-ray Technician, which she did until retiring in 2007.
She loved being active outdoors. As a teenager, she was the hiking counselor for several summer camps in New York state and Vermont. An excellent swimmer, she was on the synchronized swimming team in college. In her twenties, she sailed and skied, and once the children were grown she learned to play golf.
She was a very good singer, and was in the NY All-City High School chorus. As an adult, she researched her family tree and eventually hosted a big reunion of her father’s long-estranged family.
Surviving are her beloved husband David, her children Jeffrey Tutelman and his wife Robin and Daniel Tutelman, her sister Ilene Sobel and her husband Peter, and her cherished grandsons Justin and Sean.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, Nov 8 at 10am at Bloomfield Cooper Jewish Chapels, 2130 Route 35, Ocean, NJ followed by burial at New Montefiore Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation.
