Felipe Matta, 83, of Odessa, Texas passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on April 1, 2019. Felipe was born in Balmorhea, Texas to Nolberto and Juanita Matta on November 23, 1935. He went to school in Pecos, Texas. He married the love of his life MariaLuisa Baeza Matta on July 17, 1964. He worked as a machinist for Triple AAA Engine service and Cooks Engine service for most of his life. Felipe had a strong work ethic and loved spending time with family. Often family members sought his common-sense advice and wisdom. Felipe’s favorite hobbies were working, reading and fishing. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and enjoyed attending mass with his wife. Felipe loved his community and enjoyed driving around Odessa in his red truck contemplating on where to stop. We know your next stop will be grand!
Felipe is survived by his wife MariaLuisa Matta, daughters Irma Matta, Norma Matta, Delma Garcia and Son-in-law (he called Son) Arturo P. Garcia (Moose). He is survived by five grandchildren: Felipe Garcia, Alex Garcia, Alexandria Luna and her husband Eric Luna, Noel Pacheco, Beto Pacheco and two great grandchildren: Christopher Tapia, Benjamin Luna. Felipe is survived by his brothers Adan Matta, Cipriano Matta, Nolberto Matta and his sisters Erlinda Sauceda and Eva Valencia.
Felipe is preceded in death by his parents and brother Mike Matta.
Rosary will be Thursday, April 4th at 7:00pm at Odessa Funeral Home in the Chapel, and Funeral Mass will be held on Friday April 5th, at 10:00am at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, with Burial to follow at Ector County Cemetery.
