Maureen Stienon Anderson, 87, of Odessa, TX entered her eternal rest on Thursday, September 9, 2021. Maureen was born in London, England on August 8, 1934 to the late Marius Stienon and Lucille Layton Stienon. She began her journey to America on her birthday in 1940. She graduated from Ann Arbor High School and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Michigan. She became an American citizen in 1952. She married the love of her life, Peter Caviness Anderson, on June 23, 1956 in Ann Arbor. Together they lived and worked in Ann Arbor; Ft. Wayne, Indiana; Plymouth, Michigan; Poughkeepsie, New York; River Ridge, Louisiana; eventually retiring to Fayetteville, Arkansas, and later in life to Odessa, Texas.
Maureen worked as an administrative assistant for many colleges, including Eastern Michigan University and Newcomb College of Tulane University. Maureen loved music and was involved most of her life in church choirs and Sweet Adelines, now affiliated with Harmony Foundation International. A follower of Christ, Maureen was an active member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church of Springdale, Arkansas, and a regular attender of First Baptist Church, Odessa, Texas.
Maureen is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Peter; Marius Stienon, father; Lucille Stienon, mother; Francis Stienon, brother; David Layton Anderson, son; and, Khrystina-Marie Alloa Anderson, granddaughter.
Maureen is survived by her brother, Julian Stienon, California; children Carol Marie Brent of Gilbert, Arizona, Richard Leigh Anderson of Tucson, Arizona, Peter Jerome Anderson of Dodge City Kansas; and Laura Kristen Smiley (Scott) of Odessa, Texas; and daughter in law, Sherri (Aston) Anderson of Orlando, Florida. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grand children and a number of nieces and nephews.
