Gaylene was a smart, fiercely independent woman whose life was marked by an unmatched love and dedication to her family.
Gaylene was born March 7, 1941, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After graduating from Edmond Memorial High School in 1959, Gaylene attended both Southwestern Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma, earning a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Licensed in both Oklahoma and Arkansas, Gaylene was proud of and passionate about her work, and enjoyed a long career as a research pharmacist and equal employment opportunity arbitrator within Oklahoma City's VA Health Care System.
Gaylene is survived by her four daughters: Misha Goldsmith and husband Dusty of Mineola, Texas; Lauri Osborn and husband Matt of Miami, Oklahoma; Kelly Short and husband Andy of Frisco, Texas; and Paige Godfrey and husband Richard of Jenks, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jason Mowdy and wife Mary Rose; Madeline Lynch and husband Bryan; Hannah and Abby Osborn; Rhys Short; Caroline and Kate Godfrey, and great grandchildren Joshua, Caleb and Josiah Mowdy.
Gaylene was preceded in death by her parents Elroy and Lucile Neely and her brother Gail.
Gaylene's loving and generous spirit will be missed by those who were fortunate to have loved and been loved by her.
A memorial service in her honor will be held at Memorial Park Historic Chapel in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on Saturday, January 18, 2020, at 2:00 in the afternoon.
