Helen Anne Williams went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at the age of 82. Her life’s calling and ministry has been for the children & many others she could help and lead to Christ. She loved the Lord with all her heart and all her being.
Helen Anne (Rainey) Williams was born in Enid on March 2, 1937. She was the first child and daughter of her parents Glen Austin Rainey and Helen Pearl Rainey.
Helen Anne married Garten Allen Williams in Enid on May 16, 1956. They met at Midwest Christian University. Together they had four children, all boys; James Williams, Robert Williams, Dean Williams, David Williams. After Garten’s death Helen Anne resumed her studies at Bethany Nazarene College in Bethany to become a teacher, and then on to Oklahoma University for her Masters Degree in Education. She joined Metropolitan Baptist Church when it was located on 50th. She became a history teacher at Putnam City Schools for 10 years and then followed her calling to serve the Lord in a greater mission at Markoma Bible Academy in Tahlequah for 16 years teaching children and missionaries, and also creating a foreign exchange program for children to come from Japan for education. The next 16 years were spent in Oklahoma City serving as a missionary for Metropolitan Baptist Church co-partnered with Olivet Baptist Church working with Inner City children and their parents, through programs like Whiz Kids and camps close to her heart such as Kids Across America in which she served joyfully until 2017. She moved to Baptist Village Retirement in 2017. She absolutely enjoyed OU Football & the Thunder games very much. Also, getting out and walking, sharing the word of Christ, and helping others there at Baptist Village.
Helen Anne is survived by her sons, James of Oklahoma City (wife Vicki), Robert of Yukon (wife Stephanie), Dean of Clovis, NM, and David of Tahlequah (wife Kathy) and her loved 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, plus 2 more on the way. She loved all of her family & friends with all of her heart. She will be dearly missed.
