Born March 10, 1939 in Pryor, OK to Louis Harold “Short” Nave and Juanita Hickman Nave. Growing up, Curtis enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, and working on cars. At 23 years old, Curtis joined the United States Army, he was eventually sent to Germany and met Hannelore Wendel. The two married on September 18, 1964. Their marriage produced three children: Mark, Holly, and Jason. Curtis spent 30 years in the Army, which included 2 tours in Vietnam. He was most proud of his time spent working on Chinook helicopters, Pershing missiles, teaching helicopter test pilots, and instructing soldiers through the Sergeant Major Academy, for which he wrote an instructional manual.
In 2007 he retired to Oklahoma City, where he spent his days restoring cars and spending time with his family, including his faithful dog, Eddie.
He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Harold “Short” Nave, his mother, Juanita Hickman Nave, and his older brother, Harold “Blackie” Nave. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Hannelore Centa Nave, their children, Mark Curtis Nave and his wife, Natalie Nave, Holly Claudia Najar and her husband, Peter Najar, and Jason Cary Nave and his wife, Nancy Maylan Nave. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Jamie Caitlyn Najar, Jacob Christian Nave, Zoe Elizabeth Najar, Joshua Andrew Nave, and Justin Alexander Nave. Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Joann Moore, his younger brother, Gary Nave, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 29th, 2020, with a Funeral Service to follow at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 29th, 2020, at the Bill Eisenhour NE Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 2, 2020, at the Ft. Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, OK.
