Rhonda was born on October 29, 1951 in Oklahoma City, OK to William Frank and Nettie Velma (Roark) Love. William and Velma were raised in Coalgate, Oklahoma then moved to Oklahoma City in 1947 for better job opportunities for their family. The family then moved to Jones, Oklahoma in 1959. Rhonda married Darrell Fortune on June 10, 1972, and have four children; 2 sons Monty and Rocky and 2 daughters Shannon (preceded by) and Kacey Fortune.

Rhonda graduated from Mid-Del Technology Center earning her Associates Degree in the nursing program and continued her life long career as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Rhonda’s love of nursing began as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at the Jones Nursing Home working alongside her mother for many years.

Rhonda retired after 45 years in the medical field but her passion was working in the Home Health Care Industry. She specialized in wound care treatment and was recognized by leadership for her dedication and care for her patients. Her love for others was shown throughout her career and through the relationships she had built with her patients.

Rhonda was a natural caretaker, an animal lover, but family was the most important thing in the world to her. She was proud of all 3 of her children leaving behind beautiful memories, lots of laughs and love. Her love for animals comes from her father who raised beagles and goats. Her love for animals included raising chickens, goats, dogs, cats and rescuing any animal in need and bring them in for shelter.

Rhonda was a great cook and when the kids were younger she would cook dinner at her parents’ house every Saturday and some Sunday evenings. She always made the holidays special and would go out of her way to ensure that she had prepared each guest their favorite homemade pie. Her other hobbies included canning vegetables and gardening in her earlier life. She also had a hobby of watching videos on YouTube.

Rhonda enjoyed going to Cracker Barrel on Saturday’s, shopping and watching movies with her brother, Jack. Rhonda and her brother always made sure they set aside time to spend together on a regular basis. Rhonda (Mama) cherished the precious memories of Monty, Rocky and Kacey when they were little and said those were the best days of her life. Mama got to experience that love for children again with the love of her granddaughter MacKenzie up until the very end.

Rhonda is survived by her brother, Jack David Love; children, Monty Fortune, Rocky Fortune and wife Angie, and Kacey Fortune; and granddaughter, MacKenzie Fortune. Rhonda is preceded in death by her parents, William and Velma Love; and her daughter, Shannon Fortune; aunts, Rowena Henderson, Peggy and husband Gerald Summers, Helen Wiemers, Jaqueline Helms, and Pauline Henderson.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00P.M., Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel, 8805 NE 23rd St., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73141. Interment will follow directly at Jones I.O.O.F. Cemetery, N. Hiwassee Rd., Jones, Oklahoma 73049.
