Teresa "Terry" Ellen Talley

February 26, 1944October 15, 2013

Teresa (Terry) Ellen Talley was born in Madill, Oklahoma on February 26, 1944 to Eunice and Elton Talley. Terry attended school in Altus, Oklahoma and upon her graduation from high school in 1962 moved to Los Angeles, California as a student of the Art Center College of Design. After graduating in 1966, Terry promptly moved across country in a 1962 Rambler with $300 in her pocket, to New York City where she began a long and successful career in creative advertising.

After her bold beginnings at N.W. Ayer on Madison Avenue, she went on to co-found several advertising companies throughout her career to include Kolker Talley Hermann of New York City, and Talley Writes! of Tomkins Cove. Terry created many successful advertising campaigns, one of the most recognized campaigns was the TV ad and media jingle, “The Little Blue Jug is Dynamo!”

Terry served as the village mayor of Grand View on the Hudson, New York from 1996-1999. She enjoyed her civic service and was extremely proud of the accomplishments realized by the village during her tenure.

Terry published two books on historic homes along the Hudson River, Oh! What a Grand View and Gems on the Hudson. She spent many happy years researching and photographing the villages on the Hudson River north of New York City.

Terry recently retired and relocated from Tomkins Cove, New York to Oklahoma City where she was able to share the last year of her life with her sister and brother in law, Cynde and Kenny Holloway, nephew Jeffrey Holloway, bother Pat Talley, aunts Helen Keener and Olevia Robinson, and cousin Janet Keener. Terry leaves behind many old and new friends, both in New York and in Oklahoma City.

Terry’s life was filled with adventure and she was always fearless in the face of new challenges. She traveled the world with her longtime companion, Jay Hirsch, embracing life and living it to the fullest.

Terry was preceded in death by her parents, Elton and Eunice Talley, both of Altus, and one sister, Marilyn Talley of Oklahoma City.

A celebration and remembrance of Terry’s spectacular life will be held on Sunday, 2:30pm, October 20, 2013 at her home in Oklahoma City.

Teresa was one of my best friends in high school. We had so many happy times together. She was fun, smart, and talented even then. I know she will be greatly missed. May God be with all of her family.

So many wonderful memories of T. She was always so much fun and so talented. I had tried to reconnect with her in recent years, but had been unsuccessful. I was so sorry to find she had been so close the last year. I will always carry the memories of her with me. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Thank you for sharing the beautiful pictures of Terry's wonderful life. Elton used to come by my office in Altus to brag on his great kids..and he was always telling me about Terry's latest accomplishments. Even though I never had the pleasure of meeting ANY of Elton's children, I felt like I knew them through his love and pride. God Bless you all. Tamra Meadows Johnson (formerly of Altus, OK)
