Allena Joy Bottger

Allena Joy Bottger was born in Arbyrd, MO to Myrl Stovall and Ruby (Hunt) Stovall. She enjoyed a childhood surrounded by the love of extended family. Joy’s family moved to Hastings, NE where she graduated from high school and went on to attend Hastings College. There she met the love of her life, Robert G. Bottger. They were married in 1952 in nearby Grand Island. Bob and Joy were blessed with two children, Robin and Douglas. Early in their marriage, the family moved to Omaha and lived there for many years. They retired to the Lake of the Ozarks, making many new friends and enjoying family outings on the lake with their children and grandchildren. After Bob’s death in 2009, Joy moved to Lakeview Village in Lenexa, KS and enjoyed making yet more new friends there until her death. While living in Omaha, Joy gave private piano lessons in the family home. After her own children were out of high school, she spent several years employed as the Director of Volunteer Services at Immanuel Hospital. In her free time, Joy sang with the Voices of Mel Olson and in the choir at Rockbrook Methodist. Joy also was active in Young Matrons and Eastern Star. Joy was preceded in death by her husband Bob (2009) and her son Douglas (2021). She is lovingly remembered by her brother, Dan (Pat) Stovall, of Sycamore, IL; her daughter, Robin O’Hara (Jim), of Overland Park, KS; her daughter-in-law, Erica Means Bottger of Omaha; her four grandchildren, Sean O’Hara (Amy) of Scottsdale, AZ, Kate O’Hara Gasper (Adam) of Prairie Village, KS, and Erin Waggoner (Blake) and Dana Livingston (Josh), both of Omaha; and her eight great grandchildren. A private ceremony will be held at Ft. Leavenworth, KS on June 10, 2022 when Joy will be interred with at the same site as her beloved husband Bob.
