Winford (Doug) Tenpenny, age 88 of Old Hickory passed away peacefully on August 10, 2019 in his home surrounded by his family, of which he was most proud. Born July 31, 1931 in Nashville, he played football and basketball for Howard High School and was a truck driver with Local 480 for over 50 years.
He is preceded in death by his father, Clarence Tenpenny and mother, Elizabeth Bryant Tenpenny; brother, Thomas Tenpenny; sisters, Pearl Gailey and Grady Simmons.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Virginia Moore Tenpenny; daughters, Sharon Tenpenny Buzo (David) and Diane Tenpenny Wingo (Steve); 4 grandchildren, Ian Douglas Bishop, Amanda Buzo Woodward (Nate), David Buzo, Jr (Kate) and Stevie Wingo; 3 great-grandchildren, Sophia Woodward, David Buzo III and Elizabeth Buzo; nephews, Rick Tenpenny (Alice) and Todd Tenpenny (Kay).
A Celebration of Life will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at Donelson View Baptist Church with Bo Fawbush officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Family & Friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 ~ 8:00 pm Monday, August 12, 2019 and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, all being at the Church.
