I'm one of Benny's duaghters. Thank you for listing this and thank you for the responses and memories.
While we are hosting no services or funeral, as Papa will be flown back to his family's mausoleum in Giulianova Italy, we do want to take a moment to honor Papa here and to thank everyone who cared for him, and loved him, in his lifetime here. We've created a short vignette on Papa here, hosted on YouTube.
Papa was a voracious writer, a savant of the English language, not his native tongue though he spoke seven languages. Papa was funny, charming, eruttivo, and filled with unrequited love.
Words cannot portray what is felt. Thank you to Emata, Katherine, Pam, Linda, and others at Apple Rehab for being his north star, his friends, his caretakers, and more. Thank you also to VNA Community Healthcare & Hospice in Guilford C: to Molly, and Amanda, and Chuck, and Jennifer, and Sue, and Joel. These people are angels. Thank you to Rodney at Swan Funeral Home, for understanding whom Papa was without even knowing him. Thank you also to Walter De Berardinis, Publisher in Giulianova Italy, for archiving Papa's special photos- he lost so many through the years. Finally and mostly to my cousin, Giampiero Manocchia for the love and support through this all, across the big pond. Baci, Baci.
Papa loved Hemingway. He loved Opera. He loved musicals. He loved Italy. He loved good food, good conversation, good travels. He loved his memories and his people.
I'm unworthy of putting into visual the fantastic life he had, but here is my tribute to a man who lived like his hero, Ernest Hemingway- passionate, emotive, and raw.

So sorry for your loss. I took care of your father at Apple Rehabilitation in Old Saybrook. We have times of disagreement but he was an extra nice person. We talked about politics, war, soccer, and many topics. Please accept my condolence and may his soul rest in peace.
