June L. Trask Sacatos-Bronen

June 10, 1926March 14, 2018

June L. Trask Sacatos-Bronen, 91, died peacefully 14 March at her daughter's home. She was predeceased by her son, Gregory, her three sisters, Joanne, Mildred, and Arlene, her first husband, Gerasimos (Jerry), her second husband Murray, and other beloved relatives and friends.

Left to mourn is her daughter, Melody (Essex), her son Peter (Branford), step children, Cindi (Pittsburgh, PA) and Rick (Woodbridge, CT), grandchildren, great granddaughter, and nieces and nephews. June was born on a farm in Belgrade, Maine to Lillian Frost and Herbert Trask on 10 June 1926. She was an excellent scholar and was one of the few students allowed to graduate high school without delay after the one room schoolhouse burned down mid-term.

While first married this somewhat shy and proper WASP was swept into a large and boisterous Greek clan of Cephalonian Greeks and probably with very little choice converted to Greek Orthodoxy and became fluent in its traditions and language. With Murray she traveled the world and saw many wonders. She was delighted with her grandchildren and gave and received much joy from them. She was quiet and reserved to most but showed her devotion and love for family and friends by helping them and fixing and creating for them. She had an artist's eye and skilled hands and created much beauty from seemingly worthless objects.

Before she experienced a progressive dementia she loved to read and follow current events. She was a volunteer for Literacy and a devout member of her Church. She was kind and fair and strove to believe and live in beauty and goodness. She went back to school in her fifties and received her college degree with honors while working full time. She was always busy and worked very hard all her life. Visitation and Services are at St. Alexis Church, Clinton, at 10:00 am and 11:00 am, with interment at Riverside Cemetery, Saybrook. Luncheon afterwards at her daughter's home.
