BRADLEY—Bertha Lillian Melanson, 91, wife of the late Joseph James Melanson, died July 6, 2020 following a brief illness. She was born January 14, 1929 in St. Stephen, NB, Canada, a daughter of Charles E. and Clara E. (Knights) Leland.
Bertha was an avid reader and will be remembered for her fine knitting skills. She had a strong spirit and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
She is survived by son Philip and his wife Sharon (Carey) Melanson of Bucksport; four grandchildren Donna (Melanson) Ransom of NC, Joseph Melanson of NC, Joey (Melanson) Erickson of Bucksport, and Jennifer (Melanson) Puchel of NC; many great grandchildren nieces, and nephews and special friends Diane Bradley, Nancy Raymond, Rachel Merrill, and Pat Rand. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph Melanson, son Victor Melanson, infant granddaughter Angel Melanson, and sister Lucy (Leland) Kura.
Due to the current pandemic situation and social distancing requirements there may be a wait to visit at the funeral home. Visitation services will be Thursday July 9, 2020 from 2:00-5:00 PM at Birmingham Funeral Home 438 Main St Old Town, ME 04468 where a funeral service will be conducted 1:00PM Friday. Burial will follow at the Cardville Cemetery, Greenbush. Due to restrictions, only family and close friends are asked to attend the service in person, the funeral service will be livestreamed on the Birmingham Funeral Home Facebook page.
