She moved from Massachusetts to Orono 40 years ago and fell in love with the town. For many years she was an administrator at the University of Maine at Orono. She loved birds and dogs - she even bred Akitas for a period of time.
She is survived by brothers and sisters: Leonard, Alison, Gerald, Wayne, and Laurel and their spouses and children. She is predeceased by her parents, Warren and Edith Wentworth, her brother Warren and sister-in-laws Roberta and Carmella. She was a loving neighbor and friend: "I have been reflecting on the 40 years Doug and I have been neighbors and are so saddened by her passing. We were blessed to have such a thoughtful, kind and generous neighbor. When my elderly mom lived with us, or when Doug was fighting cancer, she was there whenever needed. When we went to our camp it on longer trips she kept an eye on the house, took In mail, etc. We enjoyed watching birds at her bird feeder and the bright purple and blue lights on her tree during the dark winter holiday season. We admired devotion to her dogs and her independent spirit through tough times. We will miss her!"
Graveside services tentatively scheduled for June 11, 2021 at 2pm at the Riverside Cemetery, Bennoch Road, Orono. If you like, bring a story and/or a favorite prayer.
