

ELINOR WOODS HERRINGTON, 91, lifelong resident of Olive Branch and a 5th generation Mississippian, died October 1, 2010 at her home. Service will be 11 a.m. today, Saturday, October 2 at Maples Memorial United Methodist Church in Olive Branch. Burial in Blocker Cemetery. Mrs. Herrington was a graduate of Olive Branch High School and an honor graduate of Belhaven College in Jackson, MS. She worked as a MedTech at Methodist Hospitals. She was a founding member of the Olive Twigs Cultural group, lifelong member of Maples Memorial United Methodist Church and an avid bridge player. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Clay Herrington, former Mayor of Olive Branch. She leaves one daughter, Carol Allen (Keith); one son, Mike Herrington (Debra); four grandchildren, Michael Woods Herrington of Madison, MS, Leslie Wells of Jackson, MS, Leigh Brister of Madison, MS and Cody Allen of Olive Branch; and five great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Maples Memorial United Methodist Church.
