Robert “Bob” M. Gwartney, 69, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Baptist DeSoto in Southaven, MS. Bob served honorably in the United States Air Force in the Vietnam War. His favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. Bob retired from Baptist Collierville as an Assistant Administrator after 14 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Buckner Gwartney and Georgia Mae Foxx and a sister, Vickie Jocelyn Gwartney. Bob leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Paulette Gwartney; a son, Robert Noel Gwartney and wife, Amanda; a sister, Betsy Foxx Williams and husband, Chris, and a step brother, Billy Watkins and a stepfather, Frank L. Foxx. He also leaves behind one granddaughter, Jocelyn Noel Gwartney, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Brantley Funeral Home, 6875 Cockrum St. Olive Branch, MS 38654. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at 2:00 pm with visitation an hour prior at Brantley Funeral Home. Inurnment will be held at later date at West Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery in Memphis, TN.
