Shellie Markham Robinson passed away peacefully at home on May 7, 2021, from a long battle with cancer. Shellie was born on January 1, 1944 to Mildred and Howard Robinson, in Memphis, TN. Shellie grew up in Gunnison and Marks, Mississippi where he was a graduate of Marks High School. He went on to study at the University of Southern Mississippi and The University of Memphis. Shellie proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine in the Vietnam War.
Shellie is preceded in death by his brother Lou Robinson and sister Phyllis Melton. Shellie is survived by his wife, Peggy Robinson, sisters Connie (Jimmy) Melton, Sharon (Fred) Vincent, sister-in-law Debbie Robinson, brother-in-law Wayne Melton, three children, Kevin (Gina) Campbell, Brad Elkins and Julie Wade, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition, Shellie is survived by many nieces and nephews that he loved very much.
Shellie never met a stranger and left his family with many wonderful memories. Shellie had a gift for making family celebrations so much fun with his stories and poems. One of the favorites being “Easter”. He was truly one-of-a-kind and will be deeply missed.
A private burial will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
