Hilda O’Brien, 94, of St. James Manor, Oneonta, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2019 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.
She was born on October 20, 1924 in Pharsalia, the daughter of Oscar and Beulah (Foster) Prestidge. She married Arthur L. O’Brien on November 9, 1943 in Guilford.
Hilda was employed for many years as an assembly worker at Astrocom in Colliersville. She was a member of the Portlandville United Methodist Church for over 70 years.
She enjoyed knitting, playing cards and Bingo, camping and traveling on bus trips.
Hilda is survived by her son, James (Karen) O'Brien of Fulton; her daughter, Kathy (Mike) Walter of Sevierville, TN; her daughter, Kelly O'Brien-Shumway of Morris; 8 Grandchildren; 13 Great Grandchildren; and 2 Great-great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Arthur L. O'Brien in 1989; her son-in-law in 2010; and her brother, Lloyd.
Friends are invited to greet the family on Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 11 am to 1 pm at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oneonta, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 1pm with Penny Harrington officiating.
Burial will take place in Milford Center Cemetery, Milford Center.

Hilda had a very long and fulfilled life....filled with a loving family...three children...grandchildren and great grands. She so enjoyed visiting Tn. When Karen and Jim took her there...and the many dinners with Kelly at her adult home...and her Mother's Day was made so special. Hilda loved...and was loved. A very fulfilled life.......Love Ruth
