Lawrence was a Sergeant in the Army Air Force serving from 1942 to 1946. After his honorable discharge from the military, he attended pace university. Lawrence tried his hand at many different things. Some of his many jobs included owning a soda truck, a diner, and delivering flowers and the newspaper, often working two or three jobs at a time. He worked for 28 years as a security officer at SUNY Oneonta, and after retiring from there, he worked as a security officer at OGS. His strong work ethic was evident when he finally retired for good at the age of 91.

Also, his loving ‘fur’ grandchildren Chance, Ollie, Foster, Rylee, Bailey, and Eli.
Lawrence enjoyed spending time with his family and had many stories to share from his 95 and a half years. He loved to sit out by his pond watching the birds and admiring the landscaping and flower beds he and his family created over the years. He took a lot of pleasure spending time with his pet cats and dogs, which always brought a smile to his face.
