Mr. Rivera was born on March 21, 1935 in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico, the son of Evaristo and Josefa Rivera. He worked in maintenance for a housing authority prior to his retirement. He was united in marriage to Carmen Mercado-Velez.
He is survived by his wife, Carmen; two sons, Richard (Dr. Cecille Tapia) Rivera and Edwin (Gina) Rivera; and a daughter, Sonia (Felix Rosado) Rivera and six grandchildren; Christian, Sofia, Jasmine and Nicole Rivera; Samantha Marmol and Justin Rosado.
