Gloria Jean Winans, 74, of Deltona, FL, and formerly of Minneapolis, MN, slipped away peacefully on November 10, 2018. She was born December 25, 1943 in Sioux City, IA to Bennie Hamilton and Barbara J. Crosswhite. Gloria was a member of Allen Chapel AME Church, and involved with the Elite Ladies. She was a current member of the NAACP and active with numerous other groups in the community that supported education and women’s rights. Gloria was a world traveler who connected easily with others. She had a wonderful sense of adventure and enjoyed photography. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, and 9 brothers and sisters. Gloria is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Arnester Winans; loving children, Thearie Downs (Kimberly), Tonia J. Bagby, Yuriko Vaughn (Vernon), Tatsumi Gonzalez (Mark), Arnester T. Winans (Linda), and Alarice Winans; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 6 siblings; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Celebration of Gloria’s Life will be Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 11am at Allen Chapel AME Church, 580 George W. Engram Blvd, Daytona Beach, FL 32120.
