Charles E Lassabe, 77, passed away peacefully due to underlining illness, in the comfort of his home. Surrounded by his family on October 3, 2020.
Charles was born in Gulfport, Mississippi on May 19, 1943. Parents were Father Dixie Alex Lassabe, Step- Father SJ Jernigan and Mother Mary Louise Jernigan. He relocated to Orlando, Florida when he was seven years old. Prior to marring, they met at the Dairy Castle where Marsha worked. He married Marsha Mae Powell, wife of 57 years, on April 27, 1963.
Charles is survived by his wife Marsha, son Charles Lassabe Jr & Melanie Gross, daughter Pamela Lassabe & Nat Jackson, brother Harold Lassabe, sister Dixie Lassabe Hartman, grand children, great grandchildren, extended family and his loving dog Benji.
Charles loved nascar, airboating, hunting and fishing. At a young age he began working at Publix, then on to working for his stepfather’s Air Conditioning business as a roofer, shorty after he went to work for Barber Air Conditioning & Heating and attended part time schooling for air conditioning. Then went to Harper plumbing and Heating for several years. He retired from Orange County Public School as a Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.
Charles as he went by “Charlie”, he loved to work on his car’s, motorcycles, and airboat. He would come home from work and take his johnboat across the street and go fishing. He would take the family to Moss Park camping, and would take the houseboat out to Silver Glen Springs, for over many, many years.
