Robert G. Leite
September 10, 1942 – August 2, 2018
Orleans – Robert G. “Bob” Leite, 75, passed away peacefully at The McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich, MA with his loving wife of 54 years, Frances (Sears) Leite by his side on Thursday, August 2, 2018.
Bob was the son of the late Antonio and Rose (DeFilippo) Leite. He was born and brought up in the Prospect Heights section of Milford and graduated from Milford High School Class of 1960.
He was a co-owner and operated “Leite Bros. Baking Co.” and worked for several years as a carpenter, and then for J.J. Nissen Baking Co. as an area supervisor. After moving to Orleans in 1977 he changed his career path by going to work for The First National Bank of Cape Cod as Supervisor of the Lock Box and Central Filing Department. Through several mergers, Bob transitioned to Shawmut Bank of Cape Cod as Electronic Banking Service Coordinator, then promoted to the Facilities Department as a Vice President and District Facilities Manager of Southeastern MA and Cape Cod, and People's Savings Bank of New Bedford in the same capacity. Bob retired from the New Bedford Whaling Museum as their Facilities Coordinator as well. Never being one to sit still, he could be seen on his lawnmower keeping the Orleans Cemetery well maintained. Bob took pride in everything he did and was always one of the first to offer a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He was definitely a “people person” and always greeted everyone with respect and a welcoming smile.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Leslie Voegtlin and her husband Robert of Brewster, his son Robert Leite and his wife Kimberly of South Dennis. He was the proud grandfather of Kristen Voegtlin of Orleans, Robert (Trey) Voegtlin of Brewster, Ryan Naujoks of Milford and his beautiful great-grandchildren Delilah Rae and Camden. He was predeceased by his brother Tony. He also leaves his sister Marie Esteves and her husband Jack of Hudson, his sister-in-laws Gloria Leite, Joanne Fitzgerald, Roberta Lanzetta and her husband Scott, all of Milford along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many life long friends.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Joan of Arc Church, 61 Canal Road, Orleans, MA on Monday, August 13, 2018 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich, MA or the Orleans Fire and Rescue Department, Orleans, MA.
