On July 30, 2021, Barbara “Barb” Ewell passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 84. Barb loved life and Barb loved family. She was the proud mother of one son and had two grandsons, one granddaughter-in-law and two great-grandchildren who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest and visiting the famous Fairchild Oak in Tomoka State Park in her remembrance.
In the late 1970s, Barb and her husband, Vincent Ewell, left New York and moved to Ormond Beach, Florida where they settled and became permanent Florida residents. Barb worked for Merrill Lynch and retired after many years of loyal service. She enjoyed her retirement by spending time with her grandchildren and sharing whatever surprise treats were in her candy jars! Gummi Bears were one of her favorites! In addition, every night Barb transitioned into a true Jeopardy contestant, playfully competing with her son.
Barb had an uncanny ability to find happiness in her daily activities. Her pleasant personality was contagious to everyone she met, and she played the role of “second mom” to many of her son’s friends. Barb is survived by her son, Roger; grandson, Nick; grandson Vince and his wife Katie along with great-grandchildren Aubrey and Archer; sisters, Lori, and Charlotte; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
A small graveside funeral service will be held at Volusia Memorial Park Cemetery in Ormond Beach, FL on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at 1:00 PM
