Bettie Lou (Wessel) Mustin 06/02/1938 – 07/07/2018
Bettie Lou (Wessel) Mustin, 80, of Ormond Beach passed away peacefully on July 7, 2018 at the Halifax Health Hospice Care Center in Ormond Beach, FL. Bettie was born in Evansville, Indiana to Hazel and Edward Wessel. She left a job in educational television to move to Florida to be a governess in 1959. She worked for the same family until she married her loving husband of 49 years, Eugene. Once her 3 children were of school age, she returned to work for St. James Episcopal School, where she attended church, and Volusia County Schools until the time of her son’s graduation when she became his full-time caregiver. Bettie loved movies, shopping and being involved in her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. She was happiest when surrounded by her family – she was truly a Mom’s mom. Bettie is predeceased by her parents Hazel and Edward, her sisters Helen and Dorothy, her brother Robert, brother in law George, and son in law Jefferson. Bettie is survived by her husband Eugene, children Katherine, Susan, and David, two grandsons Ryan and Jordan, brothers Edward, John, Steve and their wives all of Evansville, IN, and countless nieces and nephews. A celebration of life and gathering of friends and family will be held from 11am to 1pm on July 21, 2018 at Volusia Memorial Park, 548 N. Nova Rd., Ormond Beach, FL. The family asks that donations be made to Halifax Health Hospice.

Bettie loved her grandsons so much, and we had the pleasure of many hot days and late nights at a football field here or there.
I know the care and love that she took and showed her family, and am broken-hearted for them in her absence. She fought against the things that ailed her body and can now be at peace without pain. Please know that the Banks family sends our constant thoughts and love to you all. We thank you for all of the support you have shown the kids of Ormond through the years.
