Gilbert Arthur Ross Jr.

Gilbert A. Ross Jr. 88, of Sanford Florida passed away on April 5th 2019. He died at home with family by his side after a courageous fight with cancer. Gilbert was born in 1930 in Hartford Connecticut.

Gilbert, the son of Gilbert A. Ross Sr and Eileen (Fagan) Ross of Wethersfield Connecticut. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine A. (Howard) Ross, also from Connecticut, sister Marilyn Ross, sister June (Ross) Doyle and her husband William Doyle of New Hampshire, and a niece Diana Lanza. Gilbert is survived by his sister Betsy (Ross) Lanza and her husband Louis Lanza, three children whom he and Geraldine lovingly adopted to round out their family Gilbert A Ross III of Sanford Florida, Eileen Ross of Windham Maine and Catherine Ross of Middlesex Vermont, Five grandchildren, Gilbert Ross IV, Zachary Ross, Alexis Albert, Tyler Albert and Rachel Doughty, and many nieces and nephews.

Gilbert proudly served his country as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy. He was a graduate from Boston College with a Bachelors of Science degree.

Gilbert’s sense of humor and infectious smile with be sadly missed by those who knew him. Funeral and graveside arrangements will be announced later in this Spring. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Gary Sinise Foundation.
