Jane L Michaels Reinhold, 87, passed away on March 1st, 2020 while in hospice care at the Platinum Oaks ALF in Melbourne Florida. She was the wife of the late Gene L Michaels and is survived by her husband Robert D Reinhold.
Born in Pottstown, PA, on April 29, 1932, Jane was the daughter of the late O’Neil and Marion (Haines) Camacho.
Jane graduated from North Coventry High School in 1952 where she was known for her beautiful singing voice as a member of the glee club. She met Gene Michaels and after a brief courtship they were married July 17th, 1953 in Pottstown, PA. Becoming the wife of a career Coast Guard Serviceman took them to many ports of call over their 42 years together with one of the most challenging and memorable being the Fire Island Lighthouse on Fire Island New York in the early 1960’s. Jane wore many hats while raising their three young children on this remote lighthouse, from baker to barber, tailor to nurse and Sunday school teacher. The last duty station took Jane, Gene and family to Ft Lauderdale Florida where their fourth child was born. In retirement, they managed Sea Colony, a condominium complex on Pompano Beach, for their last years together before Jane was widowed by Gene’s passing in November of 1993.
Jane was always strong in her faith and active in her churches, Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Davie Florida and later St Stephens Evangelical Lutheran in Pompano Beach, Florida. Jane was always singing and a long time member of the choir at St Stephens as well as helping manage the kitchen for major church events and VBS. Jane later met Robert Reinhold who also sang in the choir and they were married in February of 1998. Jane and Bob enjoyed singing and traveling throughout the US and Europe before Jane was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.
Jane is survived by her children, Karen (Michaels) Poulsen, Durham, NC, David Michaels, Daytona, FL, Ronald Michaels, Marco Island, FL, and Geanine (Michaels) Dotson, wife of Tip, Melbourne, FL; her siblings Mary Rohrbach and Patricia Harbach, wife of George; and her six grandchildren: Brandi, Shawn, Christina, Steven, Stefanie and Fauna; and thirteen great grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her siblings, Marion Quigley, David Camacho, Virginia Levengood, and Joseph Camacho.
Jane’s ashes will be buried along side those of her beloved late husband Gene L Michaels, Chief Petty Officer, with full military honors at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, Florida.
A memorial service will be held at St Stephens Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pompano Beach Florida.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St Stephens Evangelical Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Our family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the loving staff of the Platinum Oaks ALF in Melbourne Florida for her loving care helping to make our Mother Jane’s last years and days a joyful time. Additionally we want to thank the Hospice of St Francis in Brevard County, FL for allowing Jane to have a peaceful beautiful passing.
