He was born in Columbus, Ohio on July 19, 1957. Rex graduated from Worthington High School, attended The University of Virginia and received a Doctor of Medicine Degree from Case Western Reserve University. Rex completed his Residency at Harvard University and then became a Clinical Fellow in Harvard’s Psychiatry program. He was appointed as Medical Director at Bridgewater State Hospital in the Commonwealth of MA Dept. of Corrections. Later, he moved to Florida with his first wife, Ann and their children, where he worked for Florida Hospital and then started his own practice, Birkmire Behavioral Health, now known as Ashlawn Consulting. He maintained his private practice until he passed away. He was the Founder of NICO, a club for Nissan, Infiniti, and Datsun car owners. His main passion in life was his 4 children and helping them achieve their dreams. He loved collecting, building, and racing cars and motorcycles. He was also passionate about the outdoors, Florida, and freedom. Rex and his second wife, Angel Laudadio, have enjoyed many great adventures together with their pets, as well as business success running their private practice.
He is survived by his wife Angel, and his four children and their spouses Jonathan Birkmire ( Ashley), Sarah Birkmire (Tzu Wei Peng), Andrew Birkmire, and Jeremy Birkmire .
A celebration of life service for Rex will be held Friday, January 6, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Action Church, 1485 Grand Rd, Winter Park, FL 32792. The family will receive friends from 2:30 pm until service time.
