He was born on August 11, 1932 in San Narciso, Zambales to Laureto and Tiburcia Farala and lived a life filled with love, laughter and happiness.
Growing up in the Philippines, Pete was a farmer and fisherman. He graduated from La Paz High School and Magsaysay Memorial College in Zambales, Philippines. After completing his education, he pursued a career working beside the Governor of Zambales. As the Governor’s assistant, Pete earned the nickname “Little Governor” from the people of Zambales.
Inspired to pursue the American Dream along with his wife, Filipina Farala, they immigrated to the United States in 1987 to follow their eldest daughter, Josie Farala Farin and family. Pete made Oxnard his permanent home once he immigrated to America. When he came to America he worked as a custodian for the Navy Exchange in Port Hueneme Naval Base until he retired.
Pete’s many hobbies included gardening, traveling and trying different cuisines. He especially loved spending time with family and friends. In addition, Pete was an active member of the Filipino organization, Zambales Association of Ventura County.
As the eldest child of seven, family had always been important to him. Pete’s family admired him for his kind heart, for being dependable, supportive and generous. He was truly his family’s hero and inspiration. He will be greatly missed by all who have been fortunate to have known him.
Pete leaves behind his wife of over 60 years, Filipina Farala; his children, Peter, Tessie, George, Petronilo Jr., Gina and Virgie; siblings, Yolanda, Pacita, Ricardo and Laureta; son in laws, Romulo, Jenie and Marcos; daughter in laws, Erlinda, Sandra, Princess and Zaida; and his grandchildren, Karen, Jonathan, Jamee, Jaira, Trisha, Kevin, Charmaine, Jennaci, Rachelle, Starsha, Kaysha, Zaveah, Vince and Mirella.
Visitation will be held from 1-5pm on Thursday, November 5 at Funeraria Del Angel, 401 W. Channel Islands Blvd., Oxnard. Funeral mass will be at 10am on Friday November 6, at Mary Star of the Sea Church, 463 W. Pleasant Valley Rd., Oxnard. Burial to follow after funeral mass at Santa Clara Catholic Cemetery, 2370 N H St., Oxnard.
