

Candace Leola Hoyt, affectionately called “Candy,” passed away peacefully in her home in Monterey, California on October 20, 2021 at aged 71. Born December 10, 1949 in Santa Ana, California to William Clinton Hoyt and Jacqueline Leola Hoyt, she leaves behind her four children, David Michael Jamarck(Angela), Colleen Erin Owens, Shannon Leslie Jamarck(Paulette), and Alexis Patricia McBride(Gaelin); her three grandchildren, Alyssa Erin Owens, Charles Vincent Owens and Grady Kane McBride; her four siblings, Pamela Patricia Hoyt, Keith Clinton Hoyt, Kathleen Erin Connell(Dennis) and Aileen Lesley Mickel(Steve); and many nieces and nephews.
Born into a military household, Candy and her family lived in several states before setting down roots in Pebble Beach where she attended school at Carmel Mission and graduated from Pacific Grove High School, Class of ’68. She went on to attend Monterey Peninsula College with dreams of becoming a flight attendant. Love came into her life, and she married and started a family with Dale Edward Jamarck, bringing her first three children into the world. She later married and had her fourth child with her high-school sweetheart, Jesse Rodriguez Perez. Candy nurtured and cherished her friendships with her high school classmates and made many, many more friends over the years. She remained very close to all her family, friends and coworkers. Most of all Candy’s children and grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Candy had a very successful career as a customer service manager for the publishing company CTB McGraw-Hill. She is fondly remembered for her bright personality and wonderful sense of humor, as well as being an excellent dresser, a great dancer, and absolutely beautiful inside and out. Despite the many challenges she faced, Candy maintained her faith and love in God, Jesus and the Blessed Virgin Mary, and remained a force of strength and support to her loved ones. Always kind, loving, accepting and compassionate, Candy is deeply loved by those she leaves behind and will be dearly missed by all those whose lives she touched.
Candy’s service will be held at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church, 362 Lighthouse Ave., Pacific Grove, California 93950 on Thursday, November 18th, 2021 at 10:30 to 11:30 am. A celebration of life will follow and will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn Monterey in the Big Sur room.
