Richard W. Szy, 71, passed away on January 14, 2019 in Palm Bay, Florida. He was the widower of MaryAnn Szy (the love of his life). They shared 30 wonderful and happy years of marriage together before her passing on February 12, 2015.
Born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Frank and Anna Szy. Since his teenage years, he worked on cars, so it was no surprise that that became his main occupation in his adult life. There honestly was no place that he would rather be than under a car working on it. Richard’s other hobbies included collecting diecast cars and building models of cars.
He served in the United States Navy for two years; that is where he got his organizational skills and strictness from. But the military didn’t break him completely. He was known to be extremely bubbly and an all-around happy person. When he smiled or laughed, it brought joy to all those around him.
He is survived by his children, Stacy and Richard Jr.; two grandchildren, Jessica Reed and Emily Szy; and two great-grandchildren, Stephenie Reed and Stephen Reed. He is predeceased by his lovely wife and both of his parents.
The Celebration of Life will be held on January 27, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Fountainhead Funeral Home, 7359 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay, Florida 32909 with inurnment directly after in the Garden Building I Mausoleum located in Fountainhead Memorial Park, 7303 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay, FL 32909.
