January 2, 1925July 2, 2013

Virginia “Ginnie” Adsit, 88, of Cocoa Beach, FL, left this earth on July 2, 2013 to be with her husband, Jim, and the angels she knew were always looking over her. Ginnie was born on January 2, 1925, in Strunk, KY. After graduating from McCreary County High School in Whitley City, KY, in 1942, she moved to Louisville, KY, where she met her husband, Major James K. Adsit. They were married at Griffis AFB, Rome, NY on April 17, 1948. Jim remained in government service for 33 years, before retiring and moving the family to Melbourne, FL in 1961. Ginnie and Jim celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary one month before his death in 1998.

Ginnie was a former president and life member of VFW Auxiliary, Post 4206, Melbourne; life member of the VFW National Home; life auxiliary member of Military Officers Association of America; lifetime charter member of the National WWII Memorial, Washington DC.

She enjoyed collecting recipes, doing crossword puzzles, traveling, and being with family and friends. Ginnie was a gentle woman who was always kind and had an infectious smile she shared with everyone. In 2010, Ginnie moved to Cocoa Beach to be nearer her family and found a second family with the staff and residents of Magnolia House.

Ginnie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Lamar Johnston of Cocoa Beach; sister and brother-in-law Esther and Noah Tucker of Pine Knot, KY; nieces, nephews, and many friends.

A visitation will be held Sunday (7/7/13) at 11:00AM with a service to follow at 11:30AM at Fountainhead Funeral Home.

Our dear friend Ginny was a beautiful lady inside and out! She will be greatly missed by all her friends at her beauty shop. My staff as well as the other customers enjoyed Ginny each
week, she truly had a contagious smile and lots of great stories and experiences she shared with all of us.
She and Jim were wonderful people and are greatly missed. It was a privilege knowing and serving Ginny!!!!
