Floyd Leland Andersen (89 years old) was born in Harlan, IA on June 16, 1924, the son of John and Ida Andersen. He went to be with the Lord on May 16, 2014. Floyd grew up on a farm outside Harlan that raised cows, pigs, and grew crops. Floyd and his two brothers helped their Dad on the farm until they went into the military. Floyd joined the Navy and was a pilot in WWII, serving stateside. When he was discharged, Floyd went into banking. It was there he met his beloved wife Dorothy (Oaks) of 65 years. They were married on May 1, 1949 and had two daughters. In addition to Iowa, they lived in Colorado, Missouri, New Mexico, and Nebraska. Floyd was in banking most of his life, starting out as Cashier, and working his way up to Bank President, CEO, and Director. He was a member of the Lion’s Club, Kiwanis, and the American Legion. He also served in numerous other civic activities through the years. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, stamp collecting, coin collecting, metal detecting, watching sports, listening to music, and playing cards, especially pinochle. Floyd believed in God and attended church all his life. He loved his family and made them feel loved. He took them on vacations every year, and sometimes even a Sunday afternoon drive through the countryside. Floyd was honest and believed in working hard for everything he got. He had a good sense of humor and enjoyed life. Preceded in death by Brother Reuel, Son-in-law Larry Whitt, Sister-in-law Joyce Andersen, Brother-in-law Raymond Oaks, Sister-in-law Alberta Oaks, and Nephew Danny Oaks. Floyd is survived by his wife Dorothy of Valley, NE; daughters Sharon Whitt of Trenton, MO; Addie (Jon) Devish of Yutan, NE; Grandchildren Cherri (Scott) Baldwin of Blue Springs, MO; Nevin Whitt of Independence, MO; Connor, Katrina and Tatum Devish; Great Grandchildren Anthony, Nathan, and Ethan Baldwin; Brother Dewey Andersen of Omaha; Sister-in-law Carolyn Andersen of Grand Island; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation is Wednesday 6-8 PM at Kahler-Dolce Mortuary, Papillion, NE. The Funeral Service is Thursday at 10:30 AM at Cornerstone Church, 9505 Harrison St., LaVista, NE.
