Nellie was born in Burlington, North Carolina to Mozelle (Moey) on March 5, 1930. Nellie married Lonnie Blackwelder in 1947. Lonnie was a member of the Air Force and they lived in NC, FL, CA and HI before settling in Nebraska. Granny spent most of her days sewing and crocheting afghans for family and many others. She loved making dresses for her granddaughters and specialized in Halloween costumes for the grandkids. You could always find her in the kitchen making Reuben sandwiches, more famously known as kraut sandwiches, or serving up Hollandaise sauce over eggs benedict. She loved to entertain at family gatherings. She loved a good sale and enjoyed shopping. She was an avid birdwatcher and an expert in watching the birds from the kitchen with her cup of coffee. Her television interests included anything on the Game Show Network and she enjoyed Dancing with the Stars, and never missed an episode of Days of Our Lives, a fan for many years. Granny was always happy, never raised her voice at anyone, and never said a swear word unless tricked into it by someone. She always made everyone feel welcomed and like a member of the family. Her smile and hand holds were her signature style. Everyone who knew Granny is better for having met her and her presence and love will be missed by all. We love you more.
She is preceded in death by her Husband Lonnie M. Blackwelder Jr.
