Geraldine J. Swafford, age 80, formerly of Paris, passed away peacefully in Dallas on Thursday, July 29, 2021. Services will be Saturday, July 31st at noon in the Bright-Holland Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to service time. Interment will be in Red Oak Cemetery. Geraldine was born October 12, 1940 in Lamar County, Texas to James Art and Tressie Faye Rivers Smith. She attended Paris Schools. She married Thomas Swafford in 1957 in Dallas, building 51 years of family and memories before his death in 2008. She was a strong-willed woman and had many jobs over the years, selling Sarah Coventry Jewelry, assisting at a family furniture store, making & selling crafts, and working side-by-side with Thomas at the print shop. But, her favorite job was being a loving wife and mother. She was dedicated to helping to raise a granddaughter, Tamra. Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Winifred Smith, Lou Anna Preston, Hollis Smith and an infant sister, Joyce Smith as well as nephews, Dugan Smith, Tim Smith, and Mark Smith. She is survived by her children, Pamela Holman and husband Darrell of Cedar Hill, Texas, Randy Swafford of Cedar Hill, Texas, and Jana Ansteth and husband Tim of Mesquite, Texas; grandchildren, Tamra Swafford and Nathan Ansteth; a great-grandchild, Amari Whaley; and Dino’s special nephews, Terry Smith and James “Wild” Smith.
