After being under hospice care at Colonial Oaks-Pearland due to heart failure, Donnis E. Halferty, 84, of Pearland, TX went to meet her Savior on Tuesday, January 15, 2019. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Cindy and Keith Wells, Carole and Jim Coward, Lynda and Tim O’Brien, seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Donnis was born at Heights Hospital in Houston, TX. After her family moved to Austin, she met Alton G. Halferty “Bert” whom she later married. They settled in South Houston where they raised a family and were members of First Baptist Church South Houston. Donnis served as Nursery Coordinator, President of the WMU, and on the Hospitality Committee. They owned Bert’s Machine shop where she worked as the Administrative Assistant. In later years, they moved their membership to First Baptist Pasadena.
She enjoyed collecting antique dolls, playing scrabble, and working jigsaw puzzles. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She and Bert served their community together with honor and integrity.
Donnis’ service was held on Saturday, January 19, 2019 and was laid to rest at Grandview Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Pasadena, TX. Our family will always cherish the years with her and will miss her greatly.
