Jose G Sanchez Jr. passed away Saturday October 5, 2019 at the age of 87. Born on March 31,1932 in Cotulla Texas to Jose Sanchez Sr and Francisca Garcia. He was 4 out of 9 children. While in Cotulla he met the love of his life, Petrita Lopez. They were married on April 23, 1956 and were happily married for 63 years. Jose served in the Korean War from 1951-1954 as a part of the 82nd Airborne in the 508 Red Devils. He was awarded a certificate of Basic Airborne Course Training on November 30, 1951 and he was Honorably Discharged from the 7th Infantry Division on April 14, 1954. After getting married, Jose and Pete moved to Houston in 1956 where Jose worked as a machinist at Gary Tool Company for 33 years. They had three wonderful children together Anna Maria, Joey, and Cynthia. Jose was an active member of San Augustine Catholic Church where he was asked to lead the ushers and the hospitality department. He loved going to his grandchildren’s’ sporting events, orchestra concerts, and dance recitals, binoculars in hand. He enjoyed watching the Houston Texans and Astros while drinking an ice cold Budlight. He was a family man, willing to do anything his family needed. He always had a smile on his face and lit up any room he entered. Guaranteed he was the strongest, most persevering man any of us will ever meet. The most important events in his life were the birth of his 3 children, 6 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by parents Jose Sanchez Sr. and Francisca Garcia, siblings Alicia, Jesucita, Berta, Dora, Armando, Amador. He is survived by his loving wife Petrita Sanchez, brothers Paul and Patricio Sanchez, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. May we never forget to watch our hands and feet in the door.
